Laws
Under the provisions of the Fundamental Law of the Kingdom of Natal, legislation in Natal can be enacted in four forms: Acts, royal proclamations, letters patent, and decrees.
Acts are statutes which may be enacted by a simple majority vote of the members of the Koninklike Vergadering. Acts may be initiated by the Sovereign or by any member of the Vergadering, and may only come into force upon receiving assent from the Sovereign, a legal process referred to as Royal Assent.
Royal proclamations are statutes which may be enacted by the Sovereign through which he may appoint individuals to various offices under the Crown, including the Great Offices of State, secretaries of the Chancery, members of the Koninklike Vergadering and officers in the Royal Natalian Corps.
Letters patent are statutes which may be enacted by the Sovereign through which he may grant titles of nobility and chivalry, and through which he may discharge any other ceremonial functions of the Crown.
Decrees are statutes which may be enacted by the Sovereign through which he may discharge the powers of the Crown in regards to general governance and law.
